Guests 14 and under must be accompanied at all times by a ticketed adult 21 or older. Guests 15 and older may attend without an adult. Children 7 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult (one child per adult ticket; not valid with VIP+). In reserved sections, a child 7 and under may sit on their adult’s lap for free but does not get their own chair. Children 8 and older need their own ticket.

Zootown is a rain-or-shine event, so dress for the forecast. If lightning or severe weather threatens, we may pause performances or ask guests to move to shelter. Follow staff directions and watch for updates via SMS, social media, and stage screens.

How does Reserved Seating work?

Want a guaranteed seat? Reserved Seating is the only way to get a raised chair at Zootown. As the festival has grown, chairs and blankets have taken up more of the field, squeezing guests into tighter spaces, blocking walkways, and leaving latecomers with poor views. Outside chairs with legs and blankets are no longer permitted, so Reserved Seating gives you a comfortable seat while keeping the field open for everyone. Prefer the ground? Stadium seat cushions and Crazy Creek–style ground chairs (no legs or raised frame, one person) are welcome, and so is sitting on the grass. Trust us, our grass is nice! Just need a break? Benches, hay bales, and other first-come, first-served seating are located in non-concert areas around the festival site, and the Lookout Stage has a shaded grandstand open to all guests. Reserved seats are the only raised chairs at the festival. There are no chair rentals and no complimentary chairs in any area, including VIP. Reserved tickets are available in every tier: GA, GA+, VIP, and VIP+. Your ticket includes your tier’s full access plus your own premium camping chair (with arms and a cup holder) in that tier’s seating section. VIP+ seats are on the first row of the VIP+ Summit Deck. A Reserved ticket is a ticket, not an add-on. Chairs are not sold separately, so to get a seat, buy the Reserved version of your tier. Choose a 2-Day seat or a Single-Day seat for Friday or Saturday. You pick your exact seats during purchase on the Front Gate seat map. Your seat is yours all day, so explore the festival and come back to it anytime during the day (re-entry rules apply). Children do not receive a free chair at any age. A child 7 and under may sit on a parent’s lap in the reserved section at no charge; a child who needs their own chair needs their own Reserved ticket. Layaway is available for all Reserved tickets. 2-Day Reserved holders get first right to renew: the option to buy the same seats for 2028 before anyone else. How do I get to the festival?

Zootown takes place at the Missoula County Fairgrounds, 1101 South Ave W, Missoula, MT 59801. It's centrally located and easy to reach by car, bike, festival shuttle, rideshare, public transit, or on foot. Flying in? Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) offers nonstop flights from many major U.S. cities. Driving? Enjoy scenic routes via I-90 or Highway 93. Is re-entry allowed?

Yes, until 5 PM each festival day. After 5 PM, there is no re-entry. First entry anytime: The 5 PM cutoff applies to re-entry only. If you haven’t entered yet that day, you can arrive and come in anytime, even after 5 PM. Before 5 PM: You may leave the festival and come back. When you return, you will go through full security screening again. The 5 PM cutoff is the last time you can get back in, not the last time you can leave. If you step out at 4:30 PM, you must be back through the gate before 5 PM. After 5 PM: Once you leave, you cannot come back in that day, for any reason, even with a valid ticket. All ticket types: The cutoff applies to GA, GA+, VIP, VIP+, and Reserved tickets, on both Friday and Saturday. 2-Day ticket holders: Leaving after 5 PM on Friday ends your Friday only. Your ticket works again when gates open Saturday. Kids 7 and under who enter free must leave and re-enter with their ticketed adult. Reserved ticket holders: Your seat stays yours all day. Tip: Want to stash a jacket or charge your phone without leaving? Rent a locker on-site once they’re available!

Can I transfer or re-sell my ticket?

Tickets may not be resold. Transfers to friends or family are at your own risk. Only buy from Front Gate Tickets or Rockin’ Rudy’s. Tickets bought anywhere else may be counterfeit and will not be honored.

No cash will be accepted anywhere on-site. To keep lines moving, every bar, food vendor, merch booth, shuttle, and the box office accept digital payment only. What's the difference between GA, GA+, VIP and VIP+?

GA: Full festival access with standing room at the Trailhead Stage. GA+: Everything in GA, plus express GA+ entry; access to Basecamp, the GA+ lounge with its own private bar; permanent restrooms between the Trailhead and the Lookout. VIP: Everything in GA, plus front-of-stage at the Trailhead, VIP viewing at the Lookout, express VIP entry, access to The Lodge : an air-conditioned lounge with seating and a VIP-only bar, and luxury restrooms. VIP+: Every VIP perk, plus access to The Summit : a shaded, exclusive viewing deck with premium sightlines, and a complimentary full-service bar. Each tier is sold two ways: standing room at the Trailhead Stage, or as a Reserved Seat ticket that includes your own chair in that tier's section. Chairs are not sold separately.
